Ways to Praise God

Hi there, my fellow Christian Damsel!

It's my privilege to be back with you in another post🥰💖🥳🤗!

Question: Do you think you are engaging God in all the ways you can praise Him🤔🤷🏽‍♀️?

Let's look at all the ways to praise (that rhymed😮🤣).

Ways to praise God

With my shout

The Bible speaks of times when God's people shouted and has instances where we are told to shout. When was the last time you shouted out praises to God?🙄🤔
  1. And it shall come to pass, that when they make a long blast with the ram's horn, and when ye hear the sound of the trumpet, all the people shall shout with a great shout; and the wall of the city shall fall down flat...(Joshua 6:5).
  2. Be glad in the Lord, and rejoice, ye righteous: and shout for joy, all ye that are upright in heart (Psalm 32:11).
  3. Thus all Israel brought up the ark of the covenant of the Lord with shouting...(1 Chronicles 15:28)
  4. ...And all the people shouted with a great shout, when they praised the Lord... (Ezra 3:11)

With my song

The most commonly known way to praise God is through singing. That's what we see in most praise and worship teams in our churches, right🙋🏾‍♀️?

And, you know what? It's with good reason! The Bible commands us to sing to God:
  1. Sing praises to God, sing praises: sing praises unto our King, sing praises (Psalm 47:6)
  2. Sing unto God, sing praises to his name: extol him that rideth upon the heavens by his name Jah, and rejoice before him (Psalm 68:4)
  3. Praise ye the Lord: for it is good to sing praises unto our God; for it is pleasant; and praise is comely (Psalm 147:1).
  4. And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God (Psalm 40:3)
  5. Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord (Ephesians 5:19)

With my hands

Our hands are mentioned explicitly in the Bible for being used to praise God. They are called to be lifted, clapped, and even waved:

  1. Thus will I bless thee while I live: I will lift up my hands in thy name (Psalm 63:4)
  2. Lift up your hands in the sanctuary, and bless the Lord (Psalm 134:2)
  3.  O clap your hands, all ye people; shout unto God with the voice of triumph (Psalm 47:1)

With my dance

Dancing has become so connected to lustfulness, seductiveness, carnality, and worldly music that we may have forgotten that there is a place for sanctified dancing before the Lord!
  1. Let them praise his name in the dance (Psalm 149:3)
  2. And Miriam the prophetess, the sister of Aaron, took a timbrel in her hand; and all the women went out after her with timbrels and with dances (Exodus 15:20).
  3. And David danced before the Lord with all his might (2 Samuel 6:14)
  4. Praise him with the timbrel and dance (Psalm 150:4).

With my instrument

Grab a tambourine, strum a guitar, or play the piano. We are called to use our instrumental skills to praise the Lord🎹🎸🎺🎻🎷
  1. Praise him with the sound of the trumpet: praise him with the psaltery and harp; Praise him with the timbrel and dance: praise him with stringed instruments and organs; Praise him upon the loud cymbals: praise him upon the high sounding cymbals (Psalm 150:3-5).
  2. And David spake to the chief of the Levites to appoint their brethren to be the singers with instruments of musick, psalteries and harps and cymbals, sounding, by lifting up the voice with joy (1 Chronicles 15:16)
  3. And with them Heman and Jeduthun with trumpets and cymbals for those that should make a sound, and with musical instruments of God (1 Chronicles 16:42).
  4. It came even to pass, as the trumpeters and singers were as one, to make one sound to be heard in praising and thanking the Lord; and when they lifted up their voice with the trumpets and cymbals and instruments of musick, and praised the Lord, saying, For he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever: that then the house was filled with a cloud, even the house of the Lord (2 Chronicles 5:13)
  5. And the priests waited on their offices: the Levites also with instruments of musick of the Lord, which David the king had made to praise the Lord, because his mercy endureth for ever, when David praised by their ministry; and the priests sounded trumpets before them, and all Israel stood (2 Chronicles 7:6)

With my head and knees

Bowing our heads and bowing on our knees are considered significant to God too! Let us raise our praise and become more engaged with God in these ways too!
  1. O come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before the Lord our maker (Psalm 95:6).
  2. And the man bowed down his head, and worshipped the Lord (Genesis 24:26)
  3. And when all the people saw it, they fell on their faces: and they said, The Lord, he is the God; the Lord, he is the God (1 Kings 18:39).
  4. And all the angels stood round about the throne, and about the elders and the four beasts, and fell before the throne on their faces, and worshipped God (Revelation 7:11).
  5.  And Jehoshaphat bowed his head with his face to the ground: and all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem fell before the Lord, worshipping the Lord (2 Chronicles 20:18)
Please be sure to read through the verses because some of them were only half-quoted!
