7 signs you might need deliverance from demons
How it all began
Seven signs you might be possessed (and how to do self-deliverance)
That means observing what unclean spirits are doing to you.
Not all cases of demonic possession are blunt, but we can use some signs to help us detect evil spirits within ourselves.
Please note, that we do have our carnal nature that needs daily crucifixion. 👍🏾
But if you're doing your best to walk with the Lord and just can't have the victory over certain habits and behaviours, you may be dealing with a demon.🤔
Here are seven key signs that might suggest you are possessed.
1. Emotional problems
We are emotional beings. That is expected and natural. We feel sad, we get angry, we love and even feel afraid. But disturbances can occur in our emotions that persist or keep recurring.
For example, grieving the death of a loved one is most healthy. However, those feelings should ease gradually and you should be able to accept the loss and move on.
According to mayoclinic.org, "in complicated grief, painful emotions are so long lasting and severe that you have trouble recovering from the loss and resuming your own life."
What the psychologists won't acknowledge is the strong possibility of a demonic influence.🤫
Other disturbances that could be caused by unclean spirits are bitterness, hatred, anger, rejection, depression, and worry.
If you have been struggling to rise above these negative emotions, you may be dealing with possession.
2. Mental problems
You should also take a second look for demonic influence if you have disturbances in the mind or thought life.
Things like confusion, indecision, memory loss, procrastination, mental torment and the like, are probably not just you.
3. Speech problems
Do you constantly have outbursts or have trouble controlling your tongue?
Perhaps you have been known as a gossip, or you just find yourself always lying.
Other speech problems to be suspicious of are blasphemy, criticism and mockery.
These are behaviours that can have their root in an unclean spirit.
4. Sex problems
Here we go. Let's talk about it.
You have always had a propensity to be turned on, even in childhood.
Sometimes it just takes one sound, one little touch, or even a smell to get you weak.
You struggle with masturbation. Maybe you even have a secret porn-watching habit.
You always thought it was just a weakness, and that you were born with a "white liver" according to Jamaicans.🇯🇲
Well, I can assure you there is some type of spirit of sexual perversion.
Other sexual problems that should make you think twice about an evil spirit at work are fantasy sex experiences, homosexuality/lesbianism, incest, fornication, prostituting, exposure, flirting etc.
It's time to say goodbye to those spirits!⏳
5. Addictions
An addiction is defined as uncontrolled use of a substance despite its negative consequences.
If you are using a substance to feel good or to cope, you are treading on thin ice.
If a substance impairs you from functioning in your day-to-day life, check if that's an unclean spirit.
Why would you use a substance knowing that it will have a harmful effect on you? ☹️
Why would you use a substance seeing that it is already having a negative effect on you?
If you are aware you have a problem but can't stop even if you want to or try to, that strongly suggests that there is an unclean spirit at work.
Chances are you are under the influence of a spirit of addiction.
The most common addictions are to nicotine, alcohol, illicit drugs, medications, caffeine - and let's not forget food!
6. Physical infirmities
The Bible mentions a spirit of infirmity in Luke chapter 13 verse 11:
"And, behold, there was a woman which had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bowed together, and could in no wise lift up herself."
An unclean spirit could be the cause of the physical ailment you are dealing with.
So whether it is migraines, asthma, skin problems or cancer, don't rule out the presence of a demon.
It needs to be cast out!
Then, you may also need to pray for healing from whatever damage the demon caused.
7. Religious error
Any level of involvement in religious error can be a source of entry for demons. Even the literature and physical objects have been known to attract demons. 📔📰
Involvement in any of the following must be acnowledged and renounced, and steps be taken to cast out any demons that came through those practices.
Were you or your family members involved in false religions for example:
- yoga and other types of Eastern exercises
- Christian cults such as Mormonism, Jehovah's witnesses, Christian science etc.?
If you were ever involved in the occult or spiritism such as:
- seances
- witchcraft
- magic
- Ouija boards
- levitation
- palmistry
- handwriting analysis
- automatic handwriting
- ESP (extra-sensory perception)
- hypnosis
- horoscopes
- astrology
- divination etc,
You also need to acknowledge false doctrine and this is found in first Timothy chapter 4 verse 1.
Here we are warned of a great increase in doctrinal errors in the last days being promoted by deceiving spirits and seducing spirits.
These doctrines can be identified by the following characteristics:
- They attack the humanity and the deity of Jesus Christ.
- They deny Scripture as being inspired by the Holy Spirit.
- They distract Christians from the move of the Spirit
- They bring about disunity in the body of Christ.
- They create a sense of superiority in revelation and make the individual think that he or she is unteachable.
Interestingly, spirits of religious error make you obsessed with these false doctrines and give you a compulsion to spread those doctrines.
One clear example of how these false spirits operate is that they encourage and emphasize fleshly activities as a means to the spiritual, such as asceticism and vegetarianism.
How to do self-deliverance
God can use deliverance ministers to help you get your deliverance.
But what if you don't have the option to go somewhere like that?
Thankfully, we as children of God have the option of self-deliverance.
As believers, we all have the same authority over demons.
That means you can speak to every unclean spirit you identify in you and cast them out!
Start each personal deliverance session with prayer.
You can say something like this:
(The first part of the prayer is confession.)
Lord Jesus Christ I believe that you are the Son of God and the only way to God.
I believe that you died on the cross for my sins and rose again from the dead.
I now confess to you any sins of which you have made me conscious or sins committed by my ancestors.
(Name your sins as specifically as you can as the Holy Spirit shows them to you).
(The next part of your prayer has to do with repentance.)
Lord, I repent of all sins I have ever committed. I hate them and I turn from them.
I turn to You Lord Jesus for mercy and forgiveness.
If I have been involved with the occult, I repent and I renounce it and I sever myself from it through the blood of Jesus.
If I have occult objects in my position I commit myself to get rid of them.
(The third part of the prayer has to do with forgiving others.)
Lord, I forgive any person who has ever wronged me or harmed me.
I forgive them just as I want You to forgive me.
(Name the persons that you need to forgive whether alive or dead. Here is a quote from Derek Prince: The name that's hardest is the one you most need to say.)
(And now the actual deliverance prayer.)
Lord I have met your conditions to the best of my ability.
I now claim Your promise: "Whoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be delivered."
I am calling on You now in the name of the Lord Jesus.
Deliver me from all evil spirits. I hate them! They are not my friends!
They are my enemies and I command them to go from me now in the name of Jesus.
I command you spirit of (name the spirit affecting you in any particular way) in the name of Jesus to come out!
Now take the time to speak to those spirits repeatedly.
Then begin to expel them with your breath or with coughing.
Don't hold back anything that starts coming out of any body opening.
Deliverance is a process
